How the commission is formed
- Composition
- Five commissioners serve staggered five-year terms. No more than three may belong to the same political party.
- Appointment
- A 12-member nominating council recommends candidates; the governor appoints one candidate, subject to Ohio Senate confirmation.
- Leadership
- The governor designates one commissioner as chair.
